Red Hat teams up with Vodafone to transform its data center

The world’s leading provider of open source solutions, Red Hat partners with telecom major Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to transform its distributed network data centers to open standards, open interfaces based Universal Cloud.

With the largest cloud deployment in the country, VIL will be transforming more than 100 of its data centers across Universal Cloud where a shared software platform will be capable of running multiple workloads like Network, IT, and third-party applications across its distributed cloud locations.

VIL has also declared to extend this Universal Cloud as a platform that can be used for third party workloads.

The Chief Technology Officer of VIL, Vishant Vora has stated that this partnership with Red Hat has helped them to deploy Universal Cloud-based on open standards and systems.

He also added that by effectively working with diverse ecosystems stakeholders and rapid development cycles has enabled VIL to design efficient pods that run through intensive workloads for widely distributed deployment.

Red Hat stated that the OpenStack platform will enable VIL to design efficient pods that can further be distributed geographically to reach closer to the end-users hence reducing the latency and ensuring an optimal user experience.

The Open Application Programming Interface (APIs) of Red hat will help VIL to deliver actionable insights to its enterprise users and further help them create a competitive advantage.

According to reports, the teaming up VIL with Red hat will help to set up a DevOps team that would drive more consistent innovation, co-create new solutions, and also extend the platform to startups and developers.

Added to this, VIL will necessarily deploy the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to automate workflows and also extend self-provisioning to VIL enterprise customers.

Vice President and General Manager of Red Hat India, Marshal Correia has stated that they are extremely pleased to have come together with VIL to set up the distributed Cloud platform and also help it to extend it to a wider audience base ranging from small to medium-sized enterprises and startups.

Adapting to the DevOps centered workflow based on Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies, the VIL customer can readily adapt to the changing market conditions.
