It is Confirmed By Emirates Cricket Board To Have Received ‘Letter Of Intent’ From BCCI For Hosting IPL 2020

BCCI had already cleared the decks for hosting the IPL and it has been confirmed by UAE. It has been confirmed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) through a release that the ‘Official Letter of intent’ has been received by them from their Indian counterpart in BCCI for hosting the Indian Premier League at its 2020 edition.

The secretary-general of the Emirates Cricket Board Mubashshir Usmani said that they have received the letter that was sent officially and they are now waiting for the Indian govt. to make the decision that is going to ink the deal finally. The notice is still to come to ECB from BCCI as the Indian government is trying to get it approved that the IPl moves to UAE from India. The efforts are fully mobilized by both the boards and discussions have already instigated between the relevant authorities. That also includes the internal working committees of both the boards. They have already started their preparation for hosting the IPL tournament that is going to kick start on 19th September. November 8 is proposed to be a date for the finals in a protected and safe environment.

According to Usmani, many factors have been influencing the logistics and the operations for hosting the most lucrative, popular, and exciting tournament in the world.

He also further went on to explain that there is going to be a massive movement of equipment and people and experts are now brought in by them so that all the aspects of UAE hosting the IPL are discussed. This also includes the Government entities of the respective countries, along with Sharjah Tourism Bodies, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Sports Council, and also includes the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention as well as the Police Forces who have proven and strong experiences in such activities. They will ascertain the best practices and will work together to deliver and support a successful edition.

The UAE has already hosted the first part of the IPL’s 2014 edition that has given them enough experience for hosting the 2020 edition. According to Usmani, they have a solid and sound understanding of things that are required and needed to be consulted and engaged with during the early stages to the end of the IPL. According to him, UAE boasts of great cricketing infrastructure and they are relatively seasoned to host a tournament of the magnitude of IPL 2020. The practice facilities in all the stadiums in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are enough to support the tournament that comprises of 8 teams.

According to him, the Covid-19 situation is in check in UAE and well under control. The response of the UAE govt. has been fantastic as they responded to the pandemic belligerently. The number of recoveries has increased with decreasing cases. The health authorities will also take safety measures for Covid-19.

The requirements will be laid out by BCCI as the owners of the IPL to the Emirates Cricket Board who are going to be the host nation as they reiterate the fact that they are going to lend assistance and unwavering support at every possible step for the process.
