Cher has just filed a conservatorship for her son Elijah Blue Allman, claiming that his life is “at risk” due to “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.” The court documents were submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court and it was said that the conservatorship is “urgently needed” for Elijah who is currently 47 years old.

With the help of her lawyers, Cher expressed that her son is incapable of managing his financial resources and unable to protect his property from loss and injury. However, the pop star has not publicly commented on the matter of conservatorship. Her son Elijah has not offered any statement either however, he made a social media post with the hashtag “#imprisonmentviaconservatorship.”

The documents for the proposed conservatorship said Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his late father, Gregg Allman. Cher is more concerned that her son will be only wasting money on drugs and “leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

The lawyers and the poster herself have argued on the matter that Elijah’s estranged wife, Marieangela King is not fit to be his conservator. The legal findings explained “a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises” as the reason behind all.

Cher argued with her daughter-in-law King, who is known professionally as Queenie, saying that she is “not supportive” of Elijah’s recovery. The pop star said that King “actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs.” Cher concluded that she “loves Elijah immensely and has always acted with his best interests in mind.”

While a hearing for a temporary order is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2024, the hearing for a permanent order is set for March 2024. Last year, Cher hired four men to kidnap her son Elijah and the request of the conservatorship comes after that with a widespread effort.

King has previously made an accusation in divorce documents filed in December 2022 where she accused Cher of using hired men in order to “remove” Elijah from a New York hotel room during their ongoing anniversary. King said that she and Elijah were “working out our marriage” during a 12-day stay in New York.

However, Cher denied all the allegations of kidnapping in October. She said, “I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” in an interview. She further added, “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”

This is not the first incident of conservatorship in Hollywood as before Cher’s son, there was Britney Spears who was recently released from her conservatorship.
