Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Fit India Movement’ on the National Sports Day on 29th August, Thursday at the India Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. This program aims at spreading awareness and the importance of sports in the overall maintenance of well-being and a distant vision towards establishing a healthier future for India.

The ceremony showcased some of India’s native martial art forms, sports, and other creative performing arts like a dance. The campaign’s main objective is to encourage everyone in the country about the importance of sports and physical activity in the day to day progression of life.

The 28-member committee will be headed by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju along with other government officials. Other important members of the program include members of various national sports federations, members of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), fitness enthusiasts, and more.

In recent times due to drastic lifestyle inconsistencies, the national index of hypertension and diabetes is surging at an alarming rate. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle along with physical fitness will not only overcome such problems but will also pave the way for a sustainable future.

A revolution in the backdrop of global health issues, Fit India Movement will surely bring about changes in how health and fitness are perceived and practiced.
