Priya Prakash Varrier’s film ‘Sridevi Bungalow’ teaser tries to exploit late Sridevi’s name

The Malayalam actress, Priya Prakash Varrier became the sensation in 2018 after her wink video went viral. She currently has 6.4 million followers on Instagram which is way more than many of the Bollywood and daily actors. This 19-year-old actress has chosen to make her first Hindi film debut with a movie called ‘Sridevi Bungalow’. The teaser of the film is out and it failed to recreate the life of the Late Sridevi.

In ‘Sridevi Bungalow’ teaser, Priya is essaying the role of an actress who lives a successful but solitary life. The last shot in the teaser shows a bathtub with a woman’s leg hanging outside that looked eerily similar to the accidental drowning of the late actress Sridevi in a bathtub.

This teaser dropped online on Sunday and has been entangled in arguments ever since. Many feel that the film’s premises have a mysterious similarity to the life of late actress Sridevi, who died last year in a Dubai hotel. Late Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor has condemned a legal notice on this film. The shooting of the film is still in progress in London.

Director Prasanth Mampully said that they received the legal notice last week and is ready to face it. He also said that he won’t talk about the film much; people will come to know when the film will be released. Sridevi is just the name of the character in the movie. He even motioned that the story can have similar incidents that happened in Sridevi’s life.

Actress Priya, on the other hand, has not said anything about the allegation on her film. When the actress was asked at the trailer launch regarding the film’s similarities with Sridevi’s life, she gave a neutral answer saying, people can perceive whatever they want.
